During Pitru Paksha, take a bath every day before sunrise by mixing black sesame seeds in water. Shani Dosha is also pacified by the use of black sesame seeds.
Black sesame seeds are also specially used in Shraddha rituals. During the Tarpan of ancestors, black sesame seeds and Kusha must be used in water, without this the ancestors do not get salvation, they are not able to drink water. It is believed that by using sesame seeds in Tarpan, ancestors bless the coming 7 generations with prosperity.
During Pitru Paksha, worship the Peepal tree in the evening, during this time light a mustard oil lamp and put black sesame seeds in it. Remember the ancestors, recite Pitru Sukta. This blesses the family with happiness and prosperity.
If there is trouble in the house and there is a hindrance in progress, then on Indira Ekadashi of Pitru Paksha, mix black sesame seeds in milk and offer it to the Peepal tree. While offering water, chant the mantra Om Bhagwate Vasudevay Namah. This helps the ancestors attain salvation and the descendants remain happy.

According to Rigveda, Aryama is considered to be the god of ancestors. During Pitru Paksha, one can offer laddu made of black sesame seeds to Aryama Dev. This offering can be fed to a dog. This pleases the souls of ancestors.
